June 6, 2012 Vol. 5, Issue No. 5 |
A Note from Donya
Greetings and welcome to all our new subscribers since the last issue. Lately I've been thinking about how we mark the passing of time. Most of us mark the change of seasons by linking them to common events in our lives (either directly or indirectly). For example, fall rolls around just before Halloween, winter is ushered in by Christmas, spring is often associated with "spring break" or Easter, and summer arrives just after the end of the school year.
There's a lot of chaos and turmoil going on in the world around us right now –much of which is completely out of our control, which can be a little disheartening if not downright scary at times. But in spite of all that, summer is here and with it come many reasons to rejoice and celebrate.
The month of June in particular gives us a lot to celebrate. Chances are you know someone who is graduating or getting married this month. And then there's Father's Day (June 17th) followed by Summer Solstice (June 21st), which marks the official start of summer. If nothing else, we can all look forward to longer days with plenty of sunshine and opportunities to spend time outdoors communing with nature!
Since the week leading up to and including Father's Day (June 11-17) is also Men's Health Week, this issue's article looks at some of the warning signs of chronic stress that your dad (or any dad you know) may be experiencing and how you can help him deal with it. As always, feel free to share this with anyone you think might benefit from the information. And don't forget to check out our June Dads & Grads specials!
Yours in health and prosperity,
Donya

Help Dad Put the Brakes on the Stress Express: 6 Signs He May Be Headed Down a One-Way Street ...
May is all about moms, and let's face it ... most moms have it good on Mother's Day. We like to treat our moms well because we love them; we make them breakfast in bed, buy them chocolate, and pick out a card or gift that really shows how much we care.
But when June rolls around and it's time to show dad some love, things can get a little more challenging. Men aren't always great at making their needs known, so its hard to figure out how to really show our love and appreciation for them on their special day.
Sometimes the best gift you can give dad isn't one that comes wrapped in a bow ... As it turns out, June gives us more than one way to celebrate the dads in our lives. In addition to Father's Day, it's also Men's Health Week --a time intended to help men do something they're not often inclined to do: focus on their health.
Because men are more goal-oriented and competitive, they often view health as something that can be measured in concrete terms like how many push-ups they can do, how much they can bench press, or how low their golf scores are. [Read the full article here ...]
